  • Aerobic Exercises You Can Do Indoors

Aerobic Exercises You Can Do Indoors

As fall and winter close in on us, going for those long brisk walks, jogs and runs outside look less and less appealing don’t they? Many people do a great job over the summer of getting into good aerobic shape and melting off the fat, then the colder weather moves in and the weight slowly starts to creep back on to your body. Not good!

Keeping aerobic activity going over the cooler months can help you keep off those extra pounds, especially when it is needed most (around the holidays) and when sitting inside is so appealing. Keeping active in the winter months will also help you to not be de-motivated when the spring and summer months roll back around – because you will already be in shape, both physically and aerobically!

Aerobic Exercises You Can Do Indoors
Probably one of the best pieces of equipment that any health conscience person can have is a treadmill. Treadmills have come down greatly in cost over the years, they no longer cost thousands of dollars and you can buy them at large supermarkets like Costco or Walmart for a few hundred dollars. You can also buy nice treadmills online for a few hundred dollars ($300-$500) that will last for years to come. When doing any aerobic exercise try to do them for 15 minutes or more, including on a treadmill.

Besides walking or running on a treadmill there are a ton of other exercises you can do. For variety you can alternate a couple or few of these exercises 30 seconds at a time, totaling up to 15 minutes. Here are the aerobic activities I would recommend:

    • Jogging/Marching in Place
    • Squats
    • Side Lunges
    • Jump Rope
    • Jump Squats
    • Burpees
    • Walking Lunges
    • Mountain Climbers
    • Push-ups
    • Crunches/Side Crunches
    • Jumping Jacks

An example of a 20 minute indoor workout would be:

    • Jogging/Marching in Place (warm up for three minutes)
    • Jumping Jacks (30 seconds)
    • Jogging/Marching in Place (30 seconds)
    • Walking Lunges (30 seconds)
    • Jogging/Marching in Place (30 seconds)
    • Squats (30 seconds)
    • Jogging/Marching in Place (30 seconds)
    • Jumping Jacks (30 seconds)
    • Jogging/Marching in Place (30 seconds)
    • Jumping Jacks (30 seconds)
    • Jogging/Marching in Place (30 seconds)
    • Walking Lunges (30 seconds)
    • Jogging/Marching in Place (30 seconds)
    • Squats (30 seconds)
    • Jogging/Marching in Place (30 seconds)
    • Mountain Climbers (30 seconds)
    • Jogging/Marching in Place (30 seconds)
    • Walking Lunges (30 seconds)
    • Jogging/Marching in Place (30 seconds)
    • Burpees (30 seconds)
    • Jogging/Marching in Place (30 seconds)
    • Mountain Climbers (30 seconds)
    • Burpees (30 seconds)
    • Walking Lunges (30 seconds)
    • Jogging/Marching in Place (cool down for three minutes)

Doing a routine like this may seem a little intimidating at first, but after you do it a couple of times it will become easier and easier. Although doing aerobics indoors may not be as appealing as walking or running outside, I promise you it is much more appealing than starting over from scratch on your body come spring, and undoing all of the progress you have made – or worse, going backwards from where you began!

I hope that you found this blog helpful!

  • Three Key Benefits of Meditation

    Three Key Benefits of Meditation

If you have never meditated before you may be thinking “What is all the fuss about? You just sit there and do nothing right? I do that everyday when I am watching TV.”

But meditation is far more than sitting there quietly. If you have ever had trouble sleeping at night, you know that although you are laying there quietly your mind can sometimes be a whirlwind of  activity, and you are unable to stop the internal noise and dialog. THIS is what meditation is all about, controlling your mind. Meditation allows you to become a detached observer of your thoughts and helps you to slow down your thoughts. This helps you to find true peace and quiet in the mind – where you often have no quiet.

    What Meditation Is Not
Many people think that meditation is a type of religious practice. While sometimes it is (such as with Buddhist monks), it isn’t always religious and is often completely separate from religion. I am a Christian, I meditate and many Christians meditate. It seems that the reason some think that meditation is a practice of religion is because of the fact that many people in the middle east and other parts of the world practice meditation – who are often of different religions. Don’t let this fool you and stop you from the many benefits of meditating.

Here are three benefits to meditating just a few minutes a day.

You will respond mindfully – instead of reacting mindlessly.
Have you ever flown off the handle, and wished you would have thought about what to say or do when something did not go as planned? I think we all have! Meditation will help prevent this in the future because meditation trains you how to put space between your thoughts, this means that you will be able to train yourself to put space between what happens and your reaction to it.

You will do less obsessive thinking.
By “exercising” your mind through meditation you become more of a master of your thoughts and your mind. This means that you will have less of the nights when you are laying in bed unable to stop thinking, because you have strenghtneded your mind. You will also be able to stop obsessing over things early in the day.

You will have more success in pursuing your dreams.
By doing mindful meditation you are able to observe your thoughts, which allows you to not only know yourself better, but also to shape your thoughts and eliminate undesirable thoughts over time. Sometimes we have thoughts within us but do not know it until we listen for those thoughts. Meditation also give you clarity which can help you define the next best steps for you life, and I do not know of anything better than that.

I hope you found this helpful! In the future I will do blogs on how to meditate, for beginners. I promise it is super easy, probabbly easier than you think!

  • Do You Have Candida/Yeast Overgrowth?

    Do You Have Candida/Yeast Overgrowth?

Candida is something most people have never heard of yet every one of us has it in our bodies! Candida is a fungus that is a form of yeast. It lives in your mount and intestines. It is usually a good think and helps with digestion but it can also be over produced and lead to many problems. Here are some of the many problems Candida overgrowth can cause:

    • Digestion problems/issues including bloating, constipation or diarrhea
    • Chronic fatigue
    • Fibromyalgia
    • Autoimmune diseases such as Ulcerative Colitus, Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriasis and others
    • Irritability, depression, mood swings and anxiety
    • Severe alleries
    • Difficulty concentrating, poor memory, brain fog and ADD or ADHD

These are just a few of the problems that overgrowth of Candida can cause! Healthy bacteria in your gut usually help keep the Yeast/Candida levels in check, but sometimes things that you do or eat unintentionally cause this bacteria to get out of hand. But how can this overgrowth or surplus of Candida/Yeast happen? Here are a few of the causes:

    • Living a stressful lifestyle
    • Consuming a large amount of refined sugar (which come from many different items such as soda, sweetened ice tea, candy, processed foods, cereal, condiments, etc.)
    • Taking oral contraceptives
    • Consuming a lot of alcohol
    • Taking Antibiotics

How can you know for sure if you have a Candida/Yeast overgrowth problem? There are three ways to test the levels of Candida/Yeast in your body and all of them require a doctor:

    • Blood test
    • Stool testing
    • Urine Organix Dysbiosis Test

    How to fix the imbalance:
Once you have been tested and/or have realized that you need to reduce the Candida/Yeast in your system there are steps you can take to get the overgrowth reduced. I also want to point out that even if you do not take a test the following are good practices to do for everyone to either get the Candida/Yeast reduced or to keep it in balance so that you do not face the issues above.

    • Taking proboitics
    • Improving your diet / Reducing refined sugar intake (sugar feeds yeast so this is crucial)
    • Reducing alcohol consumption
    • Taking a caprylic acid supplement (this acid destroys Candida/Yeast – take only if high levels of Candida/Yeast have been verified in your system

It is important to note that using diet alone can take up to six months, so probiotics and caprylic do offer a shortcut for you to achieve balance in your body, I recommend Nature’s Sunshine’s probiotics and caprylic acid supplements. I recommend Nature’s Sunshine because of the very high quality that Nature’s Sunshine offers. I hope that you found this article about the serious symptoms, causes and cures for Candida/Yeast imbalance helpful.

  • Tips to Overcome Empty Nest Syndrome

Tips to Overcome Empty Nest Syndrome

When life changes and your last child leaves the house it can be quite a shock for the system, the life you had become so used to suddenly has changed. It’s amazing how it can hit you like a ton of bricks. All of the to-do lists, celebrations, get-togethers you helped arrange for your offspring, loads of laundry and many other tasks kept your energy focused and kept you busy. Now there seems to be a void in your life.

Does this situation sound familiar? Waving goodbye to your last child, and thinking that you have a big void in your life? It happens to many people! How you deal with it is up to you, so the question is: How can you put your life back together and learn to cope with the stress of empty nest syndrome? Ignoring the problem is certainly not the answer. Use these solutions below to get your life back on track.

Tip #1: You can either choose crisis or rebirth – choose the latter. This time in your life can either become a time of crisis in your life or a time of rebirth. If you have always wanted to accomplish something – anything – or several things – now you have more time than before to do it! Don’t squander it. Moving forward with your goals and dreams will help you feel better – no matter how small the steps are, they are progress. Plus keeping busy will keep you occupied. Think about it. Would you rather sit there and think about it or would you rather stay busy and have your mind off of it? I think most people would choose to stay busy.

Tip #2: Use this as an opportunity to grow yourself. If there are things that you have wanted to change about yourself now is an opportunity to do what you have wanted. If you have wanted to read more to learn more, now you can. If you have wanted to exercise to get in better shape, now you can. If you are married and have wanted to grow your your relationship, now you can. And if you are single and want to find a new romantic partner, now you can. The choice of what to do with this added time is up to you!

Tip #3: Don’t just sit at home alone all the time. You want to know how to be miserable with empty nest syndrome? Sitting at home alone all the time with nothing to do, but just remember it does not have to be this way. Hang out with old friends or  make new friends. Join a class to be around people. Paint, take walks. And most importantly stay in touch with your children even after they move out, just talking to them once or twice a week can help you immensely during this transition period.

Tip #4: Pray if you are spiritual. If you believe in God(s), pray to your God(s). There is a saying that a lot of people believe in – you only get what you ask for. Ask for help in this transition period any time you need it, it can only help.

Just remember, like all of the other difficult times in your life before, this too shall pass; and like with most most difficult circumstances that you face there are things that you can do that can help you during these rough times. I hope that these tips help you!

  • Boost Your Immune System For Fall

Boost Your Immune System For Fall

As we head into winter cold and flu season, we have two choices: we can either do nothing, roll with the punches and just deal with the colds as they come or we can take a few simple steps to keep our immune systems healthy. It might be easier than you think to reduce both the number and severity of your colds.
    Zinc Again
If you only think of vitamin C when you think colds and flu, think again. If you think vitamin C when you think colds and flu, think again. Many of us have zinc deficiency, especially women and children. Zinc is easy to get and is essential to fighting off colds. But why? Zinc is involved in the development and function of the body’s white blood cells, which fight off infections. These white blood cells are crucial because they fight the nasty colds and are your first line of defense. It is recommended that adults get 8-12 milligrams of zinc per day. Zinc is readily found in lean red meat, seafood, wholegrain breads, fortified breakfast foods and nuts. It is not hard to get the 8-12 milligrams that you need everyday, just four ounces of lean read meat has about half of the zinc you need, one cooked oyster has almost all of the zinc you need and six ounces of wholegrain wheat has all of the zinc you need on a daily basis.
    Vitamin C is Still Important
I don’t want you to think that zinc is the only thing to make sure that you get enough of this cold and flu season, vitamin C is still important. It is recommended that adults get between 70 and 90 milligrams of Vitamin C per day, and some researchers say that up to 500 milligrams per day is safe and effective at helping with overall health. Researchers are learning more and more about vitamin C benefits.
“Vitamin C has received a great deal of attention, and with good reason. Higher blood levels of vitamin C may be the ideal nutrition marker for overall health,” says study researcher Mark Moyad, MD, MPH, of the University of Michigan. Though studies show that consuming vitamin C can’t actually prevent colds, loading up on Vitamin C has been proven shorten the length of time you’re sick and reduce the severity of your symptoms. This is also the case for little bouts of the sniffles. These micro colds that zap your energy can and should be knocked out quickly with vitamin C. Nipping them in the bud before they weaken your immune system is the best thing to do, because if you do nothing a more serious cold could come along and make you very sick.
Oranges are not the highest source of vitamin C, there are several foods with higher amounts. The foods with the highest amount of vitamin C are (highest first to lower amounts): Papaya, Bell Peppers, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Strawberries, Pineapple, Kiwifruit, Cantaloupe, Cauliflower. There are many more, but these will give you the highest amounts.
Don’t Let Your Gym Shoes Hibernate
Lastly, regular exercise is important all times of the year, including fall and winter! Short days and cold weather make it tempting to blow off exercising, but if you do your entire immune system will suffer. Need proof? In a recent study people who exercised regularly (five days a week or more) had 43% fewer days in the fall and winter than those who exercised less regularly or not at all. This is because during your workouts and for hours after them your body increases production of germ-fighting cells which are called neutrophils. These germ-fighters are your body’s heavy hitters when it comes to fighting infections and colds. They are phagocytic, meaning that they can ingest other cells and microbes, eradicating them. Since exercising increases production of neutrophils, it is great to exercise at least five days a week to fight off colds and the flu.

  • What is Bioresonance?

    What is Bioresonance?

What is bioresonance you ask? I’ll be happy to answer. If you have ever seen Star Trek you have seen how whenever one of the characters has an ailment of any kind, from an infection to serious illness, the doctor always pulls out a scanner. The interesting thing is it does not have to touch the person with the illness, it scans the energy to determine what is wrong. Like most other technologies on Star Trek, these bio scanners that they use are based on scientific theory.

Since the show debuted in the late 1960’s more than 10 Star Trek technologies have come true, technologies such as replicators now exist (3D printing) and even the Holodeck 3D technology has been used to create a concert for thousands of people at Coachella. There are plenty more examples of Star Trek technology coming true according to this Mashable article.

The great news is Star Trek medicine is closer than we thought it was a few years ago. As I mentioned earlier, in Star Trek when someone was not feeling well the caregiver pulled out their scanner and scanned the energy frequencies their body was putting out. The theory – and truth – is that everything is Energy.  Every single thing. Even things that are dead now or have never even lived. How you ask? Everything is made out of atoms. Atoms all have moving parts, including protons, neutrons and electrons. All energy has a frequency.  Bacteria has a frequency, Viruses have a frequency, and so do healthy cells. Bioresonance not only can ‘scan’ the body, it can also fix it.

There is a device that I believe will become more and more popular in the coming years. It is called the Deta Elis. It is already becoming increasingly popular in Russia where it was created. Vladimir Putin uses it and so do many other high-level officials in Russia. It already can be used to scan for abnormalities and scientists are working to fine tune it to destroy Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Herpes, as the first targets. Many more breakthroughs will surely come in the way of Bioresonance and I plan on keeping you up to date with all updates. And as soon as I can I will be getting a Deta Elis for my clients, which I will use to do scans. I do already have a device that is a Bioresonance device, it is called the Zyto Compass. It works off of the same principals as the Deta Elis, and I have seen proven results. I offer scans with this device that will help you to learn of any areas of improvement that we can address. Check out this page on my website for more information.

  • The Dangers of EMFs

    The Dangers of EMFs

With all of the technology that we have in the world today, we are all living in a cloud of Electromagnetic Field radiation (EMFs) more than ever before, whether from television/radio signals, WiFi, or the cellphones we use all the time, from making calls to using them to check out the latest on Facebook. Most people have probably thought about all of this stuff flying through their bodies (it does go through walls afterall!) but it is usually just a passing thought because they think that there is nothing that they can do about it, but I want to let you know THERE IS. More on that in a moment, first I want to explain more about EMFs.

EMFs come from more than just radio signals, they also come from any appliance that uses electricity and all of the wiring that is in your walls, ceilings and floors. The field in the EMF acronym comes from the fact that electronic devices do not stop this field from escaping the device; for example a large appliance may omit a surrounding field of double or even quadruple its size! This is why you should not stand right next to high power electrical devices (such as dryers and electric ovens) while they are on, for long periods of time. This is also why electric blankets should not be used, especially by children. This electro-smog is eroding our immune systems and is causing health symptoms and disease for increasing numbers of people, and because technology is expanding right now it will only continue to get worse.

Over a thousand research studies have linked EMFs to negative biological effects. These studies suggest that these EMFs may be linked to a variety of health problems including lymphoma, brain and nervous system cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, melanoma, breast cancer, miscarriage, birth defects, Alzheimer’s disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease, depression, brain fog (cloudy/slow thinking) and suicide. Big problem? You bet.

Now I want to tell you about a solution. There are products that greatly minimize EMFs from being so rampant in our homes and offices and I use them, I think everyone should, and research certainly seems to agree. These products typically use a very rare mineral called Aulterra, which is only known to exist at two sites in the world. Aulterra has been studied and is shown to absorb EMFs, as the picture indicates. Studies also You may be thinking “Ok, how many hundreds or thousands of dollars is this going to cost me?” It’s not going to cost you hundreds or thousands of dollars, you can drastically reduce EMFs from appliances and wiring in your whole home or office – up to 5,000 square feet – for about $40 by using the “Aulterra Whole House EMF Neutralizer Plug”. It also prevents EMFs from outside from getting into your home or office. Well worth the investment I think, especially given the above information I shared with you.

Inspiredliving.com has several EMF products, all very reasonably priced, and a great deal compared to what some other companies sell products like this for. Two products that I would highly recommend are the Aulterra Whole House EMF Neutralizer Plug that I mentioned above, and to reduce the EMFs from your cell phone, tablet and other devices I recommend the Aulterra EMF Neutralizer 3-Pack Nanotechnology Disks which are very affordable as well.

To find these products just go to their products page, then click on “Aulterra EMF Neutralizers” on the left hand side, or you can search for EMF in the search box on the upper left.

I hope that you have found this post informative and helpful.

  • Positive Self Talk

    Positive Self Talk

Have you ever heard of self-talk?  People think or talk to themselves all the time. Getting it right can make all the difference in your life. Talking positively to yourself can be life-changing. Some people get in the habit of always – or at least mostly – talking negatively to themselves or about themselves. But talking positively to yourself is just as easy! It’s O.K. to be your own personal cheerleader. Pat yourself on the back once in awhile; acknowledge your own unique and sparkling attributes! Positive self talk is the best pick-me-up around – it’s free plus it can be done anywhere, any time. Just remember, if you are doing self talk out-loud it may be better to do it in private.

If you take a minute to listen to your inner dialogue you might be surprised at how hard you are on yourself.

    • “Why did I say that?”
    • “That was dumb. I can’t do anything right.”
    • “I wish I was more attractive.”

You wouldn’t talk to your friends that way.  Don’t do it to yourself. Try this instead:

    • “I’m glad I spoke up.”
    • “At least I tried.  I’ll do better next time.”
    • “I like myself. I kept my cool, and I’m proud of the way I handled that situation.”

Adopt the habit of seeing the good things you do instead of focusing on the bad. Cultivating an upbeat, inner dialogue is a great mood elevator and can improve your self-esteem.  And when you feel better about yourself, you’ll be more willing to lift someone else.  Positive self talk is a small thing that can make a big difference in your life. Try it for a week or two and I know you will be surprised with the results and be a happier person in general.

You are awesome. You are unique. If you are still breathing, you have a purpose.

  • You Are What You Think

    You Are What You Think

Have you ever noticed that when you think you can do something you usually can?  For instance, if you feel confident you have the skills to succeed in a math class, you will. If, on the other hand, you start with a premonition of failure, you become your own worst enemy by letting the negative thoughts sabotage your efforts. Your brain is hardwired to think in a certain way, and the resulting mindset can have a big effect on the way you live your life. Thankfully there are ways to retrain your brain.

When you notice negative feelings clouding your thought process, stop yourself and refocus. Concentrate on thoughts that make you happy.  You are the master of your brain; don’t let it take you down a dark and unproductive path. Even if depression runs in your family, you have the capability of setting up neuronal roadblocks which can alter negative habits. And while you may not be able to erase a genetic disposition towards depression, you can greatly reduce its impact and re-occurrence.

Three Ways to Think Yourself Happy:

    • Count your blessings – Start an optimist’s journal and write down the good things that happen to you each day.
    • Practice envisioning positive outcomes to the challenges in your life – tell yourself good stories with happy endings.
    • Positive self talk –Pay attention to your inner dialogue. Take care to say positive uplifting things and treat yourself kindly.

It’s a scientific fact that optimists are more productive, have better social relationships, have statistically better health and lead longer lives. Your brain affects your mental attitude and this in turn affects your entire life. You are what you think, learn to think positive.

  • Changing the Memory of Your DNA

Changing the Memory of Your DNA

Did you know that your seemingly irrational fears and phobias may actually be inherited from your ancestors?  Let’s say you’ve always been afraid of water. One day, while doing your family history, you discover that a grandparent nearly drowned at sea, and his or her closely-related family members at the time developed an intense water phobia.  This resulting deep seated fear may have been passed down to you through inherited DNA.  Thanks to recent research, we now know that’s possible.

One experiment conducted on mice, showed that the animals passed on the aversion to a certain smell. These mice were given electric shocks at the same time they were exposed to the odor of cherry blossoms.  When their offspring, who had no previous experience with this odor, were exposed to it, they showed a pronounced thorough irrational fear.

According to Dr Brian Dias, from the department of psychiatry at Emory University, this study proves that genetics are highly relevant to phobias, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorders.  Our memories are stored as a frequency in our cells, so it is not only our learned responses that cause us to act in certain ways, but our cellular memory as well.

So how do we go about changing negative cellular memories?  Many scientists believe that making positive changes in our lives can turn off, or short circuit negative cell responses.  By creating new and positive neural pathways we can overcome some troublesome traits. Thus by adopting beneficial practices such a meditation, visualization and brain training it is possible to turn your brain to more productive thoughts, and change negative DNA memories.
